Roderick Perry is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida and a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as a Qualified Supervisor for registered interns in both Florida and Virginia. He provides compassionate, client-centered care to veterans, their families, and members of the wider community. As the owner of Helping Homes Counseling & Wellness, Roderick is dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming environment where individuals and families can find support, healing, and renewed strength.
Before becoming a counselor, Roderick proudly served in the United States Army as a Cannon Fire Direction Specialist, earning multiple commendations and developing the discipline, leadership, and commitment that now guide his work in mental health. For more than a decade, he has also served as a mentor for at-risk youth through the Departments of Juvenile Justice in Virginia, Georgia, and Florida, helping young people recognize their potential and create positive life changes.
Roderick specializes in supporting women, men, children, and families as they navigate challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, anger, and substance use. He primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)—a practical, goal-focused approach that helps clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, build effective coping skills, and strengthen relationships. His work also emphasizes communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness, and family connection, while actively reducing the stigma surrounding mental health.
Outside of counseling, Roderick is an active member of the Masons and Shriners, continuing his lifelong dedication to service and community. Passionate about helping people grow across cultures, families, and generations, he believes that even the smallest steps can create lasting change.
“Change begins with one grain of sand.”
